On Monday Amazon came out with a new feature that, like any great idea, seems obvious and something that should have been implemented long ago.

eCommerce businesses are able to tweet products from their Amazon inventory, and as long as they have the corresponding Amazon link, viewers can simply respond to the tweet with the hashtag #AmazonCart to put the item into their shopping cart on Amazon.com, where it awaits them to be purchased later.

Any time you shorten the steps involved in making a purchase (without compromising financial and customer data security), you will see sales increase. I know that at least for iPhone apps, I’ve purchased things more often now that the iPhone 5s enables you to do so with fingerprint recognition. As easy as it is to enter the AppleID and password, removing that step has removed a mental barrier to purchase.

Sellers on Amazon should be excited about this, and should ramp up their social media exposure and time investment. Or, outsource a fine company like 1Digital Agency to manage it for them :)
